DENPASAR: The number of Singaporean tourist arrivals in Bali dramatically increased by 70 percent from January-November 2010 compared to the same period in 2009, according to the tourism office.

IB Kade Subhiksu, head of the Bali Tourism office, said the total foreign tourist arrivals to Bali in 2010 had surpassed his office’s target.

“Around 2.27 million foreigners came to Bali last year,” said Subhiksu. Previously, the Bali administration targeted to net 2.1 million foreign arrivals in 2010.

Australians topped the number with around 398,787 visitors (up 44.77 percent), followed by Japan with 305,857. Also in the top 10 were Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea, France, Britain and Germany.  —JP
