Thai woman arrested for trafficking drugs

DENPASAR: Officials at the Ngurah Rai Customs and Excise Office arrested a Thai woman on Sunday for allegedly trafficking methamphetamine in her stomach.
The woman, identified as Jip Jampasuk, 28, was arrested after arriving at Ngurah Rai International Airport, from Bangkok on Thai Airways flight TG 431.
“The woman swallowed the drugs, which were wrapped in 35 plastic bags, valued at Rp 856 million [US$95,000]. It will take four days for the drugs to come out from her stomach,” said Made Wijaya, head of the office.
Jampasuk said he admitted that she had been asked to traffic the drugs by a Nigerian man called Steven, who she knew in Thailand. —JP
