President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has ordered the donation of US$1
million to help victims of the recent floods in Queensland, Australia,
according to a minister.
"President has instructed me to send the
funds soon," Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Agung Laksono
said in Jakarta on Sunday as quoted by Antara news agency.
"I've
sent a letter to The National Disaster Mitigation Agency to allocate $1
million to Queensland," Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare
Agung Laksono said in Jakarta on Sunday as quoted by Antara news agency.
The government wanted to help the people of Queensland after
Australia donated more than AUS$7 million (US$6.92 million) to help
Indonesia after a tsunami killed hundreds in Wasior and Mentawai Islands
regencies last year, Agung said.
