The National Police says it will work with the Corruption Eradication
Commission (KPK) to analyze the files of 151 cases handled by former
low-level tax official and graft suspect Gayus Tambunan.
National
Police deputy spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said that officers
would analyze the documents to determine if the companies and Gayus had
engaged in wrongdoing.
The police will also invite the tax office
to join the police and the KPK. We will start the analysis next week,"
Boy said on Sunday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com news portal.
Boy declined to give a target dates for finishing the work or for questioning officials from the companies.
"We still need proper evidence as to whether Gayus received bribes from them. We don't need to hurry," he said.
Gayus
previously testified that he received Rp28 billion (US$3.11 million)
from three companies owned in part by the family of Golkar Party
chairman Aburizal "Ical" Bakrie.
Ical's spokesperson, Lalu Mara Satriawan, said Ical should not be associated with the activities of the Bakrie Group.
"Pak Ical is a politician now, not a businessman," he said
