Text your say: Soccer schism

A- A A+

Your comments on the organization of the new soccer competition called the Indonesian Premier League (LPI) by those who are not satisfied with the leadership of the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI).

That is great idea. If I were the governor of South Sumatra, I would order the SFC as a big club in Indonesia to join to LPI’s competition. And for the PSSI, it is your time to show to the Indonesian people that you are the best.

PSSI’s members, you must say big thanks to the LPI. The PSSI and the LPI are not your enemies but your heroes. So, don’t blame them.

The PSSI, an old established association turned ignorant to suggestions and criticism, a fact that made it less credible. This association, which receives a large amount of public funds through subsidy from the central and local governments should be held accountable to the general public.

Even with such big funding, the PSSI seems to be unsuccessful in its efforts to improve Indonesian football. No wonder the new Indonesian Premier League, which promotes professional football and is managed professionally without any public funds, gets support from the Youth and Sports Ministry and many soccer teams.

A big question mark remains. How will this new league, which needs big capital to fund professionals, survive in our poor society?

The PSSI is so defensive: Crying like a baby. I did not realize that there was a dictator in football.

Its high time the PSSI finances, from way back when, and undergoes a thorough audit.

Well ... even if, as they said, FIFA asks the LPI to be disbanded, so what? If we, the people, ask the authorities to stop all funds for soccer (and allocate them to education and health, for example), and the sponsor lost interest in soccer because a lot of no-audience matches, will the PSSI and its ISL still exist?

They act like children who disregard their parents.

In my opinion, there are some other ways to solve the problem. Indeed there are so many “leaders” in line with reformation euphoria. I wonder when our national soccer team will win the regional and global competition.

Well, it is an indication that LPI is not satisfied with the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI)’s management.

It is time for the PSSI to renew the regulations and management.

Despite the controversy, the LPI offers a better climate to Indonesian football clubs.

Football clubs, which participate in the LPI, will receive more financial share from sponsorships and broadcast rights.

Regarding this, it is acceptable that 19 clubs preferred to participate in the LPI since they would receive better funding.

Local football clubs could use the funds to create better management, increase player’s salary and also enhance their youth development program.

If the PSSI fails to improve its soccer team, then its high time for an LPI to revolutionize the team to the satisfaction of the national soccer-admiring public.
