Williams through to 2nd round at Australian Open

Venus Williams has advanced to the second round of the Australian Open, beating Sara Errani of Italy 6-3 6-2.
The fifth-seeded William, who lost the 2003 final here to her sister, Serena, is aiming to continue a strong Grand Slam record from last year where she made the fourth round or better at all four majors.
On Monday, Errani continued a losing trend, dropping her 18th straight match against top 10 players.
The match was delayed briefly late in the final set for the roof at Hisense Arena to be closed when it began to rain.
