JAKARTA: Singer Dira J. Sugandi, 31, said she was happy her album had finally been released in Indonesia.
The singer, who was discovered by Incognito guitarist and music producer Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick, worked with the latter for her debut album.
The album, titled Something About The Girl, has been in store here for the last two weeks. It was released in Japan, the UK and Europe and the US March last year.
Until two weeks ago, Dira’s Indonesian fans were forced to buy her album online on Amazon.com.
“Making the album took a long time — around two to three years. Because Bluey was in the UK, while I was here [Indonesia], so I had to go back and forth several times, from Jakarta to London. And Bluey’s busy as well,” she told kompas.com.
Dira said her favorites songs in her 13-track album were Inside Love written by Bluey and Kami Cinta Indonesia (We Love Indonesia) written by the late Indonesian composer Harry Roesli.
“All the songs in this album are about my personal experience. When I sing Inside Love, I always remember him [Bluey], and how close we were, like father and daughter.” – JP
