Letter: Nuclear power is safe

I have long thought about retiring to Indonesia. Since I am a nuclear engineering major I might even be able to work there.
Japan has been able to build nuclear reactors that are earthquake
resistant. The new ones in the US are required to be earthquake proof,
even if there is no chance of an earthquake, in order to satisfy the
more luddite environmentalists.
Due to void coefficient it is physically impossible for an incident like
Chernobyl to ever happen again, the new US, Japanese and Korean
reactors all have passive systems that make the Three Mile Island
incident impossible. Considering that no one has ever been killed or
injured due to Western nuclear power, I don’t see why everyone thinks
nuclear power is dangerous.
It is time for other countries to share in the bounty of nuclear power.
