KPK should question more police in Gayus case: Police

National Police spokesman Sr. Comr.
Boy Rafli Amar is encouraging the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to
question additional police officials with alleged connections to graft convict
Gayus H. Tambunan.
“We believe that the KPK knows what
to do. If they think that summoning those officials is necessary for the
investigation, then we will fully collaborate,” Boy said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com on
Sunday.
The KPK, under its new chief Busyro
Muqoddas, has indicated it is interested in beginning a new investigation
following allegations that Gayus’ graft case involved more police officials
than previously thought.
Gayus, a former low-level tax
official, was sentenced to seven years in prison for bribery last week.
The police officials widely discussed
during the investigation of Gayus were Brig. Gen. Edmon Ilyas and Brig. Gen.
Raja Erizman. Both were former directors at the National Police’s economic
crimes division.
Witnesses Comr. Muhammad Arafat
Enanie and Adj. Comr. Sri Sumartini had claimed that Edmon Ilyas and Raja
Erizman ordered investigators to unfreeze Gayus’ bank accounts.
