Gayus appeals verdict

Graft convict Gayus Halomoan Tambunan officially appealed a recent court verdict on Monday that sentenced him to seven years in jail for bribery.

“We have just registered his appeal at the South Jakarta District Court,” Gayus’ new lawyer, Junder Tambunan, said as quoted by kompas.com.

Gayus will no longer seek the services of lawyer Adnan Buyung Nasution, who defended him in the district court trial.

Junder said Gayus was not satisfied with the verdict.

Prosecutors have already filed an appeal of the verdict, which was much lighter than their demand for a 20 years prison sentence.
