President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to issue a
regulation by the end of the month on the planned Sundra Strait bridge construction
project.
The draft regulation was submitted to the President in late
December, National Development Planning Ministry deputy for facilities Deddy
Priatna said in Jakarta on Monday.
Deddy said the regulation would rule on the establishment of
a board responsible for the project, and a mechanism to find investors, as well
as project consultants and contractors.
“We need special regulations because this is a huge project.
The bidding process for the Sunda Strait bridge will not follow existing
regulations,” Deddy said as quoted by kontan.co.id.
“The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to take place in
late 2013 or early 2014. This will involve many parties, including four state
enterprises.”
