Residents in Depok, West Java, have blocked an access road heading to Cipayung garbage dump, saying the site was an environmental and health hazard.
Local public figure Zulkarnain on Monday said the community wanted to meet Depok Mayor Nur Mahmudi Ismail to seek a solution to the problem, kompas.com reported.
The residents have blocked the road since Friday using iron bars, wood, stones, tires and other objects, demanding the local administration to pay more attention to their concerns.
The residents said they could no longer stand the smell from the dump, which also affected their health and the environment.
