Former Real Madrid soccer star Luis Figo visited Jakarta as part of a new alliance between the Spanish club and peanut producer Dua Kelinci to develop soccer in Indonesia.

Figo said that the successful growth of soccer in any country could begin with the development of soccer schools to groom young talents.

Figo provided a coaching clinic for dozens of children from various soccer schools after the launch ceremony at the Soemantri Brojonegoro stadium in South Jakarta.

“I am happy and enjoy the game [with the children],” Figo said, as quoted by tribunnews.com. “They are good and understand instructions,” he added.

With the two-year arrangement, Dua Kelinci will have exclusive rights to use Real Madrid’s logo and attributes. The company can also use Madrid players for promotional purposes in Indonesia.

Madrid’s institutional relations manager Emilio Butragueno said that the alliance would help the club grow closer to its fans here.

“We hope that this cooperation will last long and the relationship can be strengthened in the future,” he said.
