SBY has top job, deserves highest pay, says minister

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has the highest job grade compared to all other state officials and other people in Indonesia, a senior official says.

Public officials’ salaries should depend on their job grade, and thus Yudhoyono should have the highest salary of any public servants, Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said Monday.

“The President’s take home pay is Rp 62 million, while other officials receive more than the President. We need to rectify this,” he said in Jakarta, referring to his ministry’s plan to adjust the remuneration for 8,000 public servants, including the President. Agus, however, did not mention which posts were paid more than the President.

"If the job has high risks, a bigger scope and more responsibility, the salary should automatically be higher.”
