A court official says a Chechen man will be
extradited from Austria to Belgium, where he is wanted for allegedly
being part of an Islamist terror network.
The unidentified 32-year-old, who has lived in Austria for seven
years, was detained on a European arrest warrant at Vienna's airport
in December on returning from the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca. He
has been in custody in Wiener Neustadt ever since.
Leo Levnaic-Iwanski of Vienna's appellate court said Wednesday
that the extradition was approved Tuesday and was now being
coordinated by Austrian and Belgian authorities.
In November, Belgian prosecutors issued several international
arrest warrants following anti-terror raids in Belgium, the
Netherlands and Germany.
