Bad news about the food crisis facing the world as a result of global warming marked the start of 2011. The threat was voiced by the CEO of flour giant PT Bogasari, Franciscus Welirang, on the sidelines of a meeting for development programming at the JCC in Jakarta recently.
The crisis is a continuation of disasters in 2010, and will match or exceed the previous crisis in 2008. As an impact of climate change, global food production has continued to drop, triggering price hikes, including wheat which rose by 65 percent, corn by 35 percent and soybeans by 30 percent, not to mention the price of chili peppers.
We have understood that global warming is a major cause of heat waves, floods, drought, tropical winds, rising sea levels and the extinction of biodiversity. Global warming also contributes substantially to increases in the number of diseases, especially in countries that lack adaptive capacity, including Indonesia.
As a nation that believes in God, with Muslims making up the majority of the population, Indonesia has begun to build and manifest a theology of global warming and climate change.
The theology suggests that natural resources, especially energy, have limitations (ajalin musamma), as mentioned in the Koran 46:3, 30:8, 22:32 and 13:2. Therefore, these must be managed wisely and energy conservation must be promoted. (By Ali Sobirin, Jakarta)
Your comments:
We have to take care of our world responsibly. I don’t need a theology for that. It’s common sense. Maybe the theology is useful to prevent people from preaching that Allah will take care of everything, and we don’t have to worry.

The idea that global warming is causing rising food and oil prices is absurd. The causes of rising food prices is the rising cost of oil for agricultural machinery, the rising costs of fertilizers and pesticides (from oil) and the rising problems with ground water extraction and increasing demand from growing affluence in China and a growing world population.
This man-made global warming scam is not science. There’s no science saying the world is going to hell because of our failure to adhere to good and buy the carbon indulgences from the high priests of the green religion. This global warming cult is nothing short of a resurgence of the old pagan weather religions of the past.
If you want to see blasphemy, just take a real close look at their god: Gaia. Their hell: The perpetual unendurably heat of this global warming hell (in reality 2C difference which most people would hardly notice). Their high priests: The “scientists” who evangelize the global warming religion at every turn. Their “indulgence” (in Europe during the medieval times the church sold indulgences which gave the sinner a guaranteed path to heaven) the carbon credits — buy carbon credits and you are guaranteed to be absolved from the sin of carbon emissions.

Well Mike Haseler, you have an appropriate surname. The author did not say that climate change is causing oil prices. He said that they are all limited.
Mike “Hassler” appears to be a professional denier who has graced us with his presence from his home in Scotland because climate change appeared on what ever news search robot he uses.

There certainly is a global food crisis. There certainly is not a global warming crisis. The massive non-investment in productive activities in favor of speculation, especially over the recent period, is the reason for the food crisis and overall disintegration of the world’s economy.
To promote self-sacrifice in the name of warming is as much of a sin and advising people to appease the “volcano god” by immolating children.
This so-called religious person advocates murder on the largest scale, and should be so dealt with.
Man’s duty as God’s creature is to go forward and develop his intellectual and physical capabilities.
