University of Indonesia
(UI) rector Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri clarified Saturday that the
university would still organize its own entrance test for new
students, outside the test jointly conducted with other state
universities.
“But we will conduct
[the independent entrance test] after the implementation of the
National Selection Test for State Universities (SNMPTN),” Gumilar
told reporters after leading the graduation ceremony of 3,498 UI
students at the UI campus in Depok, West Java, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
He said 60 percent of
seats available for new students for the 2011/2012 academic year
would be allocated for those passing the SNMPTN, while the remaining
40 percent would be for those passing UI’s independent test.
The National Education Ministry has recently banned state
universities from conducting their own selection tests before the due
dates of the SNMPTN, which is June 1-2.
