ICW wants decision on police officers’ suspicious bank accounts

Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) said the Central Information
Commission (KIP) should rule in favor of the ICW in their dispute
with the National Police.
The ICW filed the grievance with the KIP after the police declined
to disclose deposit information for 17 “fat” bank accounts kept
by high-ranking police officers.
“Testimony and evidence presented at hearings have proven that
the National Police have no defense. They must admit that the
information we are requesting is public,” ICW’s Agus Sunaryanto
said Sunday.
ICW and the National Police are preparing for the KIP’s verdict
at the final adjudication hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
The probe was initiated following a report by the Financial
Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) indicating 23
suspicious bank accounts held by police officers.
The police have declared 17 of the accounts clean. The ICW has
requested the police disclose which accounts are “clean” to the
public.
