Dynasty politics must be stopped: KPU

Dynasty politics in Indonesia, particularly in the regional elections, must be stopped as its a violation against democracy, the General Elections Commission says.
KPU chairman Hafiz Anshari said that the KPU had proposed such a ban on dynasty politics to the House of Representatives.
He said the bill bans family members of incumbent regional leaders – parents, siblings, husbands/wives and children - from nominating themselves as regents, mayors and governors.
Dynasty politics may lead to nepotism and abuse of power from incumbent leaders, he added.
