resident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono wanted the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to enhance its auditing capabilities, agency chairman Hadi Purnomo said on Monday.
“We agreed that we should establish a better communication system between us in order to reach higher quality performance levels,” Hadi told a press conference after attending a meeting with Yudhoyono at the BPK office.
Also participating in the meeting were Vice President Boediono, People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) chairman Taufik Kiemas, House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie, Constitutional Court chairman Mahfud MD and Supreme Court chief justice Harifin Tumpa.
Similar meetings had also been conducted by Yudhoyono at the Bogor Presidential Palace and at the MPR office.
“The BPK, as well as other state institutions, are supposed to improve performance, particularly in terms of managing state funds to improve efficiency,” Hadi said, as quoted on the President’s official website presidensby.info.
Hadi added that President Yudhoyono had approved the proposal to develop an electronic auditing system called “e-audit”.
“This system will link the BPK with financial data systems in each state institution. In the future we will be able to immediately detect any irregularities in the use of state funds,” he said.
