Transjakarta Busway’s Corridor VI has been re-opened after almost a day of being blocked by residents angered by an incident where a Transjakarta bus hit a boy who was crossing the road, causing the boy’s death.
“The residents are still upset,” Zakir, a local, said when the road was still blocked, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The residents put up a plank saying, “The corridor is closed until business is finished”, and, “Busway corridors are not toll roads”.
Zakir said that the incident happened at around 11:30 a.m.
The residents held prayers in the corridor after burying the fourth-grader’s body. Police officers have discussed the matter with several renowned figures in the area, but Rizki’s family members, as well as some other locals, insisted that the corridor remained closed until they met with the driver.
An officer from the Mampang Police said that the driver had been taken to the Jakarta Police.
