A
man has arrested and charged for sexual harassment on Thursday, after
he was spotted by a TransJakarta bus passenger rubbing his genitals on
an unidentified female passenger.
The incident took place at the Sasak Shelter on Jl. Panjang, on Transjakarta Busway Corridor VIII in West Jakarta, metrotvnews.com reported Thursday.
Edi,
a driver, was apprehended by busway attendants after the passenger who
witnessed the incident alerted the victim and other passengers what he
had been doing.
Edi
was handed over to local police
for further questioning, and was said to have have deliberately
harassed the woman, since he was caught without any underwear on.
Edi will be charged with sexual harassment, with a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
TransJakarta
authorities have reminded female passengers to wear modest clothing; to
line up using the female queues at busway shelters; to seek safety when
they feel harassed; and to sit near other women when on buses in order
to avoid attracting sexual predators.
