The Presidential Palace plans to apply cutting edge communication technology, called tele-presence, to have more interactive talks with officials in the regions.

“With the tele-presence technology, coordination meetings between central government and local administrations are expected to become more effective,” said head of the Presidential Work Unit on Development Monitoring and Control, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.

“The President or Vice President can orchestrate a meeting with governors across the country from the situation room [in Jakarta] without having to visit them in their respective provinces,” he added.

The new technology has some features, including 3D video, audio-spatial tech as well as eye contact tech.

On Thursday, Kuntoro and some deputies of the Vice President had a trial-run of the new technology from the situation room located at the Presidential Palace.
