President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono are taking a bullet-proof car to ply the 300-kilometer road from Kupang to Atambua in East Nusa Tenggara on Thursday.

Presidential security guards, local military officers, police, the Air Force and other relevant officers have taken measures to provide tight security en route, Antara reported.

The Air Force has also provided a helicopter at Haliwen Airport in Atambua for the President and First Lady.

Ani and SBY will inaugurate an education center called Rumah Pintar (smart house) in Atambua, situated in front of the official residence of the local military commander, near a public square in the heart of the town.

The President will then travel to Tobir hamlet, around 11 kilometers southeast of Atambua, to visit the infantry battalion command headquarters he once led.

Yudhoyono and the first lady are scheduled to spend the night in Atambua.
