The Attorney General’s Office’s Deputy for Internal Monitoring has suggested that a Tangerang prosecutor suspected of extorting money be relieved temporarily from his position.
“According to Article 10 of the 2008 regulation, the Deputy for Internal Monitoring must suggest that that the person in question be relieved temporarily from his position,” Deputy Marwan Effendy said, as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.
The regulation stipulates that a prosecutor can be temporarily relieved from his or her position following an arrest and detainment by officials who have authority over prosecutors.
Dwi Seno Wijanarko had been named a suspect of corruption after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) allegedly caught him during a transaction at 9:15 p.m. on Friday in
Bintaro in Tangerang, Banten.
The KPK confiscated a brown envelope containing alleged bribe money as well as Seno’s car.
Seno was taken into KPK custody at the Cipinang detention center in East Jakarta after 15 hours of questioning on Saturday.
Marwan said if Seno is proven to have conducted criminal activity, the Internal Monitoring Division would suggest that he be ousted from his post.
