Abandoning the Bali Governor’s decree for a hotel development moratorium in the South Bali area, the Denpasar municipality has insisted on continuing to issue permits for construction of new hotels and other tourist-related facilities in the city.
Denpasar Tourism Agency head Putu Budiasa said that there will be eight new hotels constructed in the city, including those on Jl. Teuku Umar, Jl. Cokroaminoto, Gatot Subroto and the Ngurah Rai bypass.
The new hotels would add 1,000 rooms, Budiasa said.
Denpasar has 25 star hotels with 3,609 rooms, 195 non-star hotels with 4,515 rooms, and other accommodation facilities.
City Planning Agency head I Made Kusuma Diputra said that Denpasar is still open to new investors who want to build hotels and restaurants. — JP
