Dwi Seno Wijanarko, a Tangerang prosecutor who was arrested for alleged bribery, has been suspended from his position, an official says.
Attorney General's Office (AGO) spokesperson Noor Rachmad said Tuesday that prosecutors who are under arrest are automatically suspended.
“It is stipulated in the existing regulations,” he said, as quoted by Antara news agency.
Seno was caught receiving money from a man believed to work for Bank Rakyat Indonesia on the side of a road in Bintaro, Tangerang, on Friday. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated Seno’s car and an envelope containing the alleged bribe money.
The Tangerang prosecutor was taken into KPK custody at the Cipinang Detention Center in East Jakarta after 15 hours of questioning on Saturday and officially named a suspect.
