The National Police said on Sunday they would not stand in the way of their former detective chief, Susno Duadji, if the latter wanted to work from the National Police's headquarters.
“We have no problem with that," National Police deputy spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said as quoted by kompas.com on Sunday. "He is a member of the National Police. If he wants to come, no one will stop him. It is Pak Susno's right to come [to the office].”
Susno was released early Friday after his preliminary detention period ended. The three-star general – who last year blew the whistle on extensive corrupt practices in the police force and was himself later charged for corruption – was detained in the police detention center in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java, for 60 days.
Boy said Susno still had his office at the National Police in South Jakarta.
Prosecutors have demanded the judges sentence Susno to seven years in prison and fine him Rp 500 million (US$56,500) for receiving Rp 500 million in bribes and embezzling Rp 8.5 billion in state funds earmarked for the 2008 regional election in West Java.
