JAKARTA: The National Police said that they would not reprimand former National Police chief detective Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji for exposing corrupt practices within the police force once he returns to the office on Monday.
Susno, who is facing trial over corruption allegations, was released from detention on Feb. 18. He reportedly plans to return to work at the National Police headquarters even though he had previously testified about the involvement of a number of police officers in bribery scandals. According to National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar, the police would not reprimand Susno for his past whistle-blowing maneuvers, nor bar him from divulging public “secrets” he might be aware of.
“He is a senior officer. He knows what’s best, in his opinion,” Boy said, as reported by tribunnews.com.
He added that Susno had the right to speak out. “Go ahead, it’s his right,” he said. — JP
