HKBP Ciketing assault verdict set for tomorrow

Bekasi District Court judges are scheduled to announce their verdict Thursday in the case of the assault of HKBP church members in Ciketing.
 
Murhali Barda, the head of the Bekasi Raya branch of the Islamic Defender's Front (FPI), is one of the defendants in the case.
 
The defendants allegedly attacked HKBP Church Rev. Luspida Simanjuntak and congregation member Hasian Sihombing in September of last year after a long-simmering conflict between church members and local Muslims who objected to the construction of the church.

Hasian was stabbed in the abdomen while Luspida was struck on the head with a wooden plank, according to witnesses and police reports.

Tempointeraktif.com reported that the lawyer for the HKBP church members, Judianto Simanjuntak, was unhappy with the prosecution’s charges in the case.
