Hundreds of residents from Apau Kayan area in East Kalimantan blocked Wednesday the Temindung Terminal in Samarinda, disrupting the airport's activity.
They demanded that the management of a private airline, PT Sabang Merauke Air Charter, whose operations have been suspended, take responsibility of residents who have been affected by the airline's halted operations.
They also demanded that the airline replace its Cassa 212-200 aircrafts, tribunnews.com reported.
A Cassa 212 plane belonging to SMAC crashed earlier this month in Bintan, killing five.
The Transportation Ministry's directorate general is currently auditing the airline, which operates flights in border areas of East Kalimantan.
