Trailer trucks in Jakarta would have to comply with operating bans to be applied during certain hours starting April.
Jakarta Police Chief Insp. Gen. Sutarman said Friday that the trailer trucks would be banned from entering the city’s roads from 5 to 9 a.m.
They will also be banned from certain hours in the afternoon in the future.
“We still have to discuss the plan. [There is a] suggestion of 4 to 10 p.m,” he said, as quoted by Tribunnews.com.
Several parties have opposed the plan. Port operators, for example, said that it would disturb container transporting operations.
Sutarman said that the plan will not be hindered by the lack of regulations supporting it.
“We will just have to put up warning road signs. If someone violates it, they will be ticketed,” he said.
