Absenteeism high in Balikpapan mayoral election

At least 43 percent of eligible voters in Central Balikpapan district have failed to cast their votes for Balikpapan mayoral candidates, according to an initial report on the election released Saturday.
After calculating the election result, the plenary discovered 33,841 eligible voters did not show at polling stations.
The total number of eligible voters in the district is 77, 418, as reported by tribunnews.com on Saturday.
No details were immediately available regarding the high absenteeism in that particular district.
The plenary recorded 41,902 people had cast their votes in the district during the election held Thursday.
