The Cipinang Detention Center in East Jakarta confirms that former high official at the Home Ministry and graft convict Oentarto Sindung Mawardi will be released on parole on Sunday.
Edy Kurnaedy, the chief warden of the detention center said that the letter to release Oentarto had been issued by the Law and Human Rights Ministry quite some time ago.
“I forget when it was issued. But it has been some time. Pak Oentarto will be released on February 27,” he said Saturday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The Corruption Court sentenced the former director general of regional autonomy to three years in jail for graft in a fire engine procurement that caused Rp 86 billion (US$8.7 million) in losses.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested him in June 2009 as a suspect.
