CHC tariff is expected to increase

The Surabaya freight terminal (PT TPS) authority plans to increase charges on freight shipments by US$2 for every 20-foot container.
The increase will bring the container handling charge (CHC) to $80
Wara Dijatmika, the spokesperson of PT TPS, said they would have to adjust the tariff because Tanjung Priok Jakarta had increased the tariff to $83 per 20-foot container. “We have notified business partners about the planned tariff,” Wara said.
The increase would have to be reported to parent company PT Pelindo III for endorsement. “If endorsed, the levies will be effective as of April 1.”
Wara said the fuel price hike had also triggered fee increases.
Aziz Winanda, head of Indonesian Forwarders and Expeditions said the CHC tariff increase would add a burden to the transport tariff overseas which was already affected by an increase in mooring charges. — JP
