Your comments on the House of Representatives’ voting against the establishment of a special committee planned to carry out a tax corruption inquiry:
Don’t compare Indonesia with Finland, Canada or Germany, or other countries that have been less corrupt for a long time.
Compare the condition of Indonesia during the eras of Sukarno, Soeharto with that from the time of Megawati. Under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the government is less corrupt.
The House voting is not to stop tax corruption but it is against the establishment of a committee to inquire into tax corruption. This is different, isn’t it?

It’s hard to stop alleged massive tax corruption. Corruption in Indonesia will stop only if this country stops breathing.

House of Representatives members have voted for the interests of their respective parties; instead of for their people. They conveniently forget that they are paid by the taxpayers. They simply don’t want their parties exposed in corruption investigations.
Take care! The people you are supposed to represent are watching. They are certainly not as stupid as you wanted them to be.

As shown before, this committee was full of a political agenda which was not related to corruption problems. So, let the law enforcement handle it.

I have paid taxes with pride knowing that it will all be used for the good of our country. Sure, hardworking man like Gayus need to be supported.
Already a high salary is not high enough to pay all for his hard work for the good of the country. He needs to be paid 1 billion per month plus be given a free vacation to Bali, even overseas.
There’s no need to make a big fuss out of this honorable tax office, let alone make a tax inquiry. The tax office should at all times be left alone be able to efficiently use all the tax money to pay all the hard workers — and their partners.
The honorary members of the House should focus their energy on more important issues such as increasing the salaries of its members so that they can buy more luxury cars. House members also need to construct new buildings to make their workplaces more comfortable.
