JAMBI: The Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) is currently investigating why a dead tiger was found at Air Hitam village, Tanjungjabung Timur regency, last week.
“I don’t know the details yet. We will determine either that the tiger stumbled into a trap set for pigs or the trap was set specifically to entrap tigers,” BKSDA chief Tri Siswo said.
He said if the trap had been set for pigs there was no wrongdoing involved because pigs were not included on the list of protected animals.
The tiger carcass was found by local resident Aral in his rubber field. The tiger is believed to have been dead for three days given that it was decomposing and being devoured by maggots.
The local police said the trap may have been set by a local farmer to try and catch pigs. — JP
