The Kapuas regency in Central Kalimantan, through their Youth, Sports, Culture and Tourism Agency, plans to hold an art and culture festival from March 9 to 13, in efforts to promote and conserve the local culture.

“Holding this art and culture festival is one of the administration’s efforts to protect the younger generations against a moral and cultural crisis,” Kapuas administration secretary Zahirsyah Rofieq said on Wednesday, as reported by Antara.

Festival committee head Inar said the festival was organized to boost the younger generations' interest in and appreciation for their local art and culture.

The festival will also provide local artists with an opportunity to introduce and showcase their creativity to the public, Inar said.

More than 105 groups, including dance troupes, are expected to take part in the festival.
