The Democratic faction at the House of Representatives has forwarded to the President its proposed list of ministers who should be replaced in a cabinet reshuffle.
“The President has received [the list],” faction chairman Jafar Hafsah said on Monday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Recent rifts among party members of the ruling coalition provoked President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s Democratic Party to push for an evaluation of coalition membership and sparked speculation that a cabinet reshuffle is foreseeable.
Yudhoyono has said that there would not be a cabinet reshuffle in the near future and highlighted that if there were such considerations, he would base his assessment on the ministers’ performances and not the political logic of the coalition.
Jafar, however, said the President would definitely proceed with a reshuffle, “but it will be based on the ministers’ performances.”
The Democratic Party, he added, has forwarded its version of a performance appraisal for a number of ministers deemed by some to be lackluster.
Jafar refused to offer any names for clarification.
