Letter: Declare Ahmadiyah as new religion

This refers to a letter titled “Join forces to create peace”, (The Jakarta Post, March 7) written by Aries Musnandar.

Well, I think many Muslims fully agree with you, Aries Musnandar, that in terms of worshiping Allah, Muslims will not and cannot make any compromises.

But, remember, the essence of each religion or belief is dakwah (proselytism), that is, the effort to spread the faith. This is what religious leaders and/or organizations do.

Related to Ahmadiyah, for instance, Muslims strongly object to their efforts to influence their fellow Muslims; therefore, conflicts are unavoidable. The only solution to the matter is that it’s a good idea if Ahmadiayh is declared a new religion. Otherwise, sooner or later, physical disturbances and even bloodshed may take place.
