Police said Monday they had arrested a man who tried to smuggle crystal methamphetamine into the city police headquarters’ detention center by putting the drugs into toothpaste tubes.
The suspect, Triyanto, put four grams of the drug, locally known as shabu-shabu, in toothpaste tubes that would be handed over to two men being detained for drug charges, Jakarta Police drugs directorate analysis unit chief Adj,Snr.Com.Gembong Yudha said, as quoted by kompas.com.
Triyanto, a motorcycle taxi (ojek) driver, arrived at the detention center on Sunday afternoon with a plastic bag containing food, clothes and toiletries for Agus Mubakir and Akhirul Sapta.
An officer, however, sensed something was wrong when he squeezed the toothpaste tubes. It turned out that two 10-centimeter plastic straws containing drugs were found inside each tube.
Triyanto said that he acted upon the request of Nazid, who was later arrested in Plaza Semanggi, Central Jakarta .
