The South Tangerang Electoral Supervisory Committee says it has reported
10 cases of violations in the February’s reelection of the city mayor
and deputy mayor to the Integrated Law Enforcement Center .
“Most of them are money politics cases,” head of the committee, Sarono Budihardjo, was quoted Monday by tempointeraktif.com as saying.
He said that the police and prosecutor’s office were expected to follow
up the report similar to the case of a neighborhood chief in Setu
district
who is now on trial at the Tangerang District Court. The defendant is
being tried for allegedly distributing instant noodles to residents so
they would vote for Airin Rachmi Diany and Benyamin Davnie last year as
the
mayor and vice mayor of Tangerang Selatan.
Airin and Benyamin won the election, but the Constitutional Court
annulled their victory and ordered a reelection, following reports from
their competitors Arsid and Andre Taulany on various violations in the
election.
Airin and Benyamin again won the reelection on Feb.27.
