Two dozen Kulonprogo migrants still missing in Japan

Kulonprogo regency in Yogyakarta, is still searching for two dozen
residents who were working in Japan when a massive earthquake and
tsunami hit the area last week.
According to an official at the Labor and Transmigration Agency,
Armansyah Gatot Subroto, the whereabouts and conditions of 16
Indonesian working aboard a ship and eight Indonesian nurses have yet
to be confirmed.
“Their conditions are unknown at the moment,” he said, as
reported by kompas.com.
He added that the agency is coordinating their efforts with the
workers’ administrations and the Migrant Worker Protection and
Placement Service Centers (BP3TKI) to locate them.
The 16 mariners are graduates of vocational high school SMK Temon
Kulonprogo and are conducting their internships in Japan. They were
facilitated by PT. Rumi
The agency has contacted their school, families and PT Rumi but
has not yet received any information.
