The Finance Ministry has published new regulations on health insurance for high-ranking state officials including ministers, legislators and members of the Judicial Commission.
Finance Ministry spokesman Yudi Pramadi said that the two Finance Ministry Regulations (PMK) were PMK No. 36 and PMK.02/2011 on the implementation of health insurance for ministers and certain officials, and PMK No. 37 and PMK.02/2011 on health insurance for speakers, deputy speakers and members of the House of Representatives, the regional House of Representatives, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the Judicial Commission, Supreme Court Judges and Constitutional Court judges.
According to the regulations, the ministers and officials, along with their families, are to be given complete health services through the health insurance mechanism.
The health services follow regulations set by the Health Ministry and take into account the duties and authorities of the ministers and officials’ medical teams.
Under the regulation, the ministers and officials have the right to a number of treatments, such as hospital stays, general check-ups, overseas treatments, and labor and dental treatments.
The Finance Ministry pays an annual fee to state-owned health insurance firm PT Asuransi Kesehatan (Askes) for this purpose. The fee’s calculation is based on health costs per person and operational fees.
The amount of fee can be reviewed each year through the evaluation of a monitoring team established by the Ministry’s Directorate General of Budget.
PT Askes applies a standard procedure, which needs to be approved first by the Health Ministry.
Yudi said that PMK No. 36 was an improvement of previous regulations issued in 2009, while PMK No. 37 was issued as a follow up to the sixth article of a 2010 regulation on health insurance for legislators, BPK members, judges of the constitutional court, Judicial Commission members and judges of the Supreme Court, Antara reported.
