Protest like Singaporeans, says Jakarta’s top cop

Jakarta Police chief Insp.Gen. Sutarman wants the city’s protesters to follow the example of Singaporeans and demonstrate "indoors".

Demonstrators in Singapore were allowed to protest in special rooms equipped with closed circuit televisions (CCTV) that were connected to the institution under protest, he said.

According to Sutarman, this method could be followed locally to ensure that demonstrations do not cause disturbances.

“Government institutions should prepare special rooms for demonstrations,” he said on Wednesday.

The Jakarta Police and other police agencies could have access to such facilities as well, Sutarman said, as reported by kompas.com.
