In an update on its investigations on Wednesday, Jakarta Police announced it had found that three bomb packages sent to different locations in Jakarta on Tuesday were sent by the same person.
The three packages were allegedly sent by Sulaiman Azhar LC and using the address is Jl. Bahagia Gang Panser No. 29, Ciomas, Bogor, West Java. The local resort police, however, have confirmed that the address is fictitious. It is still unclear whether the sender’s name is real.
One of the bomb packages, hidden in a thick hard-cover book, exploded on Tuesday outside the office of the Islamic Liberal Network, injuring five people including a local police officer who was attempting to defuse it.
The bomb was apparently targetted at liberal Muslim activist Ulil Abshar Abdhalla.
The other two packages were sent to the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) chief Gories Mere and Pemuda Pancasila youth organization chairman Yapto Soerjosoemarno.
“The three bombs were the same, all encased in books,” Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Jafar said Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
“We are still investigating the motive,” he said.
