The Bali Police have blown up a suspicious package attached by a padlock to a pole in front of Pondok Wisata Hotel on Jl. Manik, in Gianyar, Bali, on Saturday. The package turned out not to have been a bomb.

The package, wrapped in a white plastic bag, was found by a resident, Agus Salim, at 11 a.m. Agus later reported his finding to a nearby police station.

At 1 p.m., the Bali Gegana bomb squad removed the package and blew it up with an explosive charge.

"After blowing it up, we brought the package to the Bali mobile brigade headquarters to piece together the package [for investigation],” Bali Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Gede Sugianyar Dwi Putra said as quoted by kompas.com.

Sugianyar said the bomb squad discovered rolls of wires and a pair of pliers in the package, but no explosives.

"We are investigating the case,” he said.
