West Jakarta Police are on the lookout for a man suspected to be the leader of a recently busted drug-distributing syndicate that had catered to customers throughout Java.
“The leader’s initial is B. We are on his tail,” West Jakarta Police narcotics unit chief Sr. Adj. Comr. Yossy Runtukahu said on Tuesday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Yossy said that the suspect was not a new name in the methamphetamine distribution business in Indonesia.
“He is a jailbird for the same cases,” he added.
The West Jakarta Police narcotics unit had previously arrested two of the syndicate’s dealers in two different locations. The first arrest was made on March 9th when Hendra Manik, alias Ucok, was apprehended at his home in Bekasi.
The police seized 15 packages of methamphetamine weighing a total of 1 kilogram. Further investigation then led to the arrest of another drug dealer, Suhartono, alias Menot, who had been living in Yogyakarta. He was caught in possession of more than five ounces of methamphetamine during a covert police operation.
The police said the syndicate had been distributing methamphetamine in regions in Java; mostly in Yogyakarta and Solo.
Police are still investigating where the drugs might have been manufactured.
