President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s talks with ASEAN military chiefs will be dominated by discussions on how to manage terrorism, Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said in Jakarta on Thursday.
“The target of cooperation, leadership and security authority between military leaders of ASEAN countries is very beneficial, for example in the arrest of terrorist leaders,” Julian said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Yudhoyono attended breakfast with the military chiefs as part of the eight ASEAN chiefs of Defense Forces Informal Meeting.
Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto, Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander in Chief Adm. Agus Suhartono and National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo also attended the event.
Agreements and collective understanding would also make the extradition of terrorists easier, Julian said.
