The National Intelligence Agency (BIN) has confirmed the arrest of top terror suspect Umar Patek and his wife in Pakistan.
“He committed a violation of the law there as well,” BIN director Sutanto said on Thursday.
Several BIN officials were sent to Pakistan to verify Patek’s arrest after Paksitani security officials forwarded images of a man resembling Patek, Sutanto said.
“We are matching [Pakistani reports] with information from the police,” he said, as reported by tempointeraktif.com.
Pakistani officials arrested Patek on Wednesday, reportedly after receiving a tip from the CIA.
Patek, who fought with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in the Philippines in 1995, has been wanted for allegedly making the bombs used by terrorists to kill 202 people in Bali in 2002.
The US government has offered a US$1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Patek.
